Hey, volunteers! Visitors will enter the Haunted House through the back area of the Writing Center called the Deep Freeze. After the Deep Freeze is the Butcher Shop, which is the front area of the Writing Center.
There are two available roles in the Butcher Shop: Butchers and Captives. The "Butchers" will be interacting with the "Captives," the poor, unfortunate souls who have been captured and are facing excruciating, imminent death.
If you are going to work in this area, you can watch the following video for the Route Sequence, which is the path visitors take when going through the Butcher Shop. The video should give you a good idea of what it will be like to work as a "Butcher" or as a "Captive."
As a "Butcher" you need to choose which obstacle will be your station. Any place it says "Butchers" or "Captives" it means we need actors for that station. Both roles are classified by their level of physical intensity (low, medium, high). Some "Butchers" will be physically engaging with the "Captives," doing everything from dragging them across the floor to forcing them behind the Butcher Counter. In other words, it is extremely important for all these moves to be choreographed to reduce likelihood of injury. Choose wisely! If you are a Butcher or Captive who really prefers NOT to be so physical, look for a Level 1 intensity.
You can follow along on the printed version of the Route Sequence. Have fun! And we hope this gets you excited about being a "Butcher" or "Captive"!
