We're back!
Hey, haunters! Welcome to the haunt for 2019!
Go through each of the videos in order to understand the route for the entire haunted house. Pay particular attention to your area if you are a performer. Videos will be posted as they are made, so please be patient. If there is no link yet, it means the video isn't uploaded yet!
Here are some other things to keep in mind:
1) Everyone should know the whole route to better understand the role in your area. There are multiple transition points this year where roles will come into contact with one another, and you need this info.
2) Watch the Scream Team videos for help with set up. There is a brief explanation for each area. All performers are expected to know the basic set up for their area because on haunt nights stuff will fall down, get unplugged, etc. If you know your area, you may not even need Scream Team to help with repairs :)
3) You are required to watch the safety video. It is boring, but important. This counts as part of your safety orientation.

We're Back! Welcome to this year's haunt: One of US!
We're Back! Welcome to One of Us!
After you've chosen your role, and your area, it is a good idea to watch the videos. Each is a "walk thru" for the actors so they better know their area, including the lighting, costuming, route sequence, and safety precautions.
Watch each video, even if that is not your area. If there is any sort of emergency, we need to successfully find our way out through the route sequences. This is a safety hazard, so take this seriously! This counts as part of your safety orientation!
The Rando Freaks (SCLC Lobby Area)
Anyone who is a relatively "stationary" freak behind a curtain or in a pit.
The Rando Freaks: SCLC Lobby
The Showtime Freaks (SCLC Classrooms Hallway)
Anyone who is putting on a bit of an "act" as a freak.
The Showtime Freaks: SCLC Classrooms/Hallway
Cannibal Hallway (Hallways behind writing center and water fountains)
Cannibal Trainers, Cannibals, and the Meat
Cannibal hallway
Creepy Clowns (Front area of writing center)
Creepy Clowns: Front area of writing center
Psycho Clowns (Back area of writing center)
Psycho Clowns: Back Area of Writing Center
Final Scare (SCLC Building Back Doors)
All actors! All actors will participate in the final scare. Watch the video for details!

Fallout Shelter: Quarantine with People in Black, Hazmat Team and Paranormals
Hey, Volunteers!
Welcome to the Quarantine room (SCLC 0115). We need People in Black, the Hazmat Team, and some Paranormals to pull off this final scare of the SCLC building. Here is how it will go down.
The Hazmat Team gets the honor of putting the visitors in the Quarantine room after the alarm sounds in the front part of the Writing Center. Once inside SCLC 0115, visitors will realize the room is pitch black. Inside only for a few moments before confusion sets in, Paranormals hiding behind the podium will start to make noise and set off the white strobe. Visitors will undoubtedly head back towards the door, but there is no way out -- the door handle has been taped over.
Just as mysteriously, the door will be opened by one of the People in Black. The Hazmat Team has disappeared.
Visitors will wander down the hall toward the building exit, which is the back stairs of the SCLC building thinking their Haunted House experience is over. But is it?
Here is a little video to help you get a mental picture of the space.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj9DG1SM9yE
An essential part of this scare is the timing. Visitors can only be trapped for a few minutes, so Paranormals and People in Black must use their best judgment to keep everyone terrified, but safe.

Fallout Shelter: Front Area
Hey, volunteers!
If you have the guts -- work in the fallout shelter in the front part of the Writing Center. As a Paranormal in this area, you will be super aggressive with level 3 makeup. You are desperate and fighting other Paranormals for survival. When the visitors arrive, in your paranoid state, you wonder: Who are they? What do they want? They are...the enemy.
In other words, it is game on in this part of the fallout shelter. Only the most hardcore should be actors here. You have to be willing to interact with and, in some cases, even touch the other Paranormals. You will be on the ground and coming out from under the counters. YOU ALSO NEED TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO VOCALIZE -- THAT IS, BE LOUD! If you aren't sure if you have angry screams in you, we can help you, um, learn how. You will also be touched by the Hazmat Team, who shows up just in time to see the chaos and shove you into quarantine.
Timing is also key in this area. You will be working very closely with the People in Black in this area. There will be several collapsible walls made of boxes, that the People in Black will shove over when actors in this area receive a signal, and then re-stack as each group of visitors comes through. In other words, team players only should work in this area.
THIS IS A HIGH INTENSITY AREA.
Watch the following video to see what I mean, and look at the wonderful pictures. You have to use your imagination a bit, but trust and believe...this is one of our best scares yet.

Set Up Videos
Hey, volunteers!
We set up the various areas of the Haunted House as early as we can. Inside the Writing Center, since it is our space, we tend to set up days in advance. Hallways and other areas used by faculty and students in the building we usually do the night before or the day of.
Here are a few set-up tips:
Beware of paper clips! We use paper clips as 'hooks' to hang some of the plastic, especially in the lobby and hallway areas this year. The edges can be sharp, so bring gloves if you have them.
Chairs are your friend! No volunteers will be asked to climb up on the ladders for set-up or break down. HOWEVER, you may be asked to get up on a tall chair to help hang plastic or other items. Be honest with us and tell us if this is not your thing, OR if you are just a big klutz. There is lots to do on the ground :)
Get ready to sweat! It sounds obvious, but stay hydrated during set up. We will have some water, and you should bring your own. It gets quite hot, especially in the SCLC building.
Disguise yourself! IF you are a performer and will help with set-up, don't forget you also need to have your makeup/costuming done. Check in for makeup FIRST! We will announce a makeup call time so you have time to help with both.
Watch the videos! Set up is complicated and takes some time. If you watch the set up videos ahead of time (below), you will basically know each area, so when you check in you can get right to work! Each area is called something specific and some areas go faster than others. Help where needed.
If you are helping with set up -- and we can use all the help we can get -- please view the following set up videos for each area.
